I graduated from Vancouver General Hospital and the University of British Columbia in 1995. After working as a RN in the lower mainland on medical and emergency overflow units, I attended BCIT to specialize in obstetrical nursing. From there I returned to Vancouver Island and worked in small hospitals as a surgical and obstetrical nurse before switching to the labour and delivery unit at Victoria General Hospital.
I’ve been teaching in the Camosun College nursing program since 2005/2006, across all years, and across many different courses. What I love about teaching is working with nursing students and inspiring learners to be the best nurses they can be. I see the nursing profession as a privilege and as a great teacher too. What other jobs engage your mind, your body, and your heart every day?
I think of myself as a nurse and educator, but other important roles I hold are wife and mother and daughter. I love an irreverent sense of humour, English literature, all kinds of music, my home and garden, my dogs and hiking… and tea. Sometimes I think I was born in the wrong century…
