To me, nursing is the most beautiful profession in the world and I am proud to call myself a nurse. As a nurse, I want to share my gifts of empathy, knowledge, and skill to make a difference in someone’s life, passing my knowledge down to those following in my footsteps. Everyone deserves skilled and compassionate care, and my new purpose is to mentor those that will be caring for those who need nurses the most.

Once into my own practice in acute care, I was drawn to students and loved guiding them in our short time together by encouraging them to be motivated and excited to enter such an honourable profession. It was here that I realized my love for mentorship and wanted to teach students in a more formal capacity. This inspired my goal of pursuing my Master of Nursing degree and by obtaining this, it  will enable me to be more diverse in the courses I am qualified to teach.

I was hired as a clinical instructor and throughout the semesters, I found increasing passion witnessing and participating in the 'ah-ha' moments and helping to guide and problem-solve. In my experience, the best educators I’ve had have been natural leaders but still open to diverse ideas including criticism. I admire and try to emulate these traits in my practice.

I am a married mom of two energetic and creative girls. I enjoy being outside camping, hiking, gardening or chilling on my paddleboard. I have a large extended family, including my identical twin, that keeps my social life rich and active.
