My nursing career started on the mainland when I graduated as a diploma nurse from Kwantlen College and started working at SMH. I decided to continue my education completing my BSN at the University of Victoria and my MSN from the University of Southern Queensland, Australia. My clinical nursing experience has varied from Gastrointestinal medicine to Orthopedics; however, my area of expertise and passion is Cardiology. While working in cardiology, I learned that patient teaching was extremely important. This is where my second passion came to light, teaching.
In my time at Camosun, I have taught in years one through three in theory, lab, and clinical classes. Clinical is one of my favourite courses as it affords me the opportunity to guide students in their application of knowledge from their classes and see how the “big picture” comes together.
I am originally from the mainland; East Vancouver, and Surrey to be precise. I moved to the island in 2009 for a change of pace and work. Creatively, my outlet is photography. Photography affords me an opportunity to explore the world from a different vantage point and practice a little self-care.
Welcome to the Nursing program!
