I have been teaching with Camosun since 2018 and I work to integrate critical perspectives in the classroom and focus on emancipatory pedagogical approaches that aim to foster student voice and empowerment. As a PhD student at the University of Ottawa, my research focuses on nursing’s professional identity to uncover how dominant, hierarchal systems impacts nursing jobs satisfaction, the transition to practice, and nursing leadership potential. As a researcher, I work for the Nurses and Nurse Practitioner Association of BC to develop evidence summaries and research syntheses to guide practice support tools. In Practice, I work as a registered nurse on Neuroscience. I have presented research findings at provincial, national, and international conferences, and was a 2020 award recipient from the Nurses and Nurse Practitioner Association of BC. Ultimately, my goal is to dismantle systems of oppression and create transformative curricular recommendations for nursing programs across Canada to help advance nursing education and support new graduate nurses.
I always start and end my day with Tiktok, I watch the fast and the furious saga too many times a year and will never pass up an opportunity to watch top-gun.
