On Leave. Kari Jones is an instructor in the Department of English at Camosun College. Her job is to teach students good reading and writing skills, but also try to teach them to enjoy it and to see how reading and writing can add joy to their lives. As well as teaching, Kari writes books for kids, including Out of Season which has been translated into five languages. Her story, At the Edge of the World came out in Fall 2016 with a great review by Quill and Quire and was a finalist for the Bolen Books Children’s Book Prize of 2017. Her most recent book, A Fair Deal: Shopping for Social Justice came out in 2017, and has recently been translated into Korean.
