James is an active visual artist based in Victoria BC, on the unceded territory of the lək̓ʷəŋən People. He received his Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Victoria in 2018. Through this degree, James explored various forms of visual art, ranging from large-scale sculpture and installation to video and performance pieces. Following his BFA, James studied architecture at Harvard University and the University of British Columbia. Since graduating from UBC in 2022 with a Master of Architecture, James has returned to fine arts, practicing and teaching drawing and painting. Through his work, he embraces the challenges of realism but usually allows for a little surrealism to creep in from time to time.
