Mice Albano has been a visitor to the land of the Lkwungen and W̱SÁNEĆ for the past 30 years. Her ancestors are from the Guarani nation in Brasil, as well as Italy and Portugal. She is a passionate teacher who believes the best way to learn is to do what we love and to experience and connect with the community around us.
Mice joined Camosun in 1996 teaching English to adult learners in the former Adult Basic Education Department. Her journey took her to the English Language Development Department and more recently to Academic and Career Foundations. In the past two years, Mice has also been teaching mindfulness to students and employees at the college as her contribution to the Mental Health Strategy Plan.
Mice is both a yoga practitioner and Mindfulness & Meditation teacher. She studied Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) at UMASS Medical School and Brown University, completing her Level 2 MBSR instructor certification. Her depth of practice has evolved over decades of daily practice, community (Sangha) engagement, and a multitude of silent retreats. Mice invites you to share her passion for Mindfulness and inspire both your heart and mind to grow and flourish.
When not teaching at Camosun, Mice spends her time meditating, walking, cycling, kayaking or reading, diligently working towards peacefulness of mind and heart.
Originally from Brazil, Mice now calls the traditional territory of the Coast and Straits Salish Peoples home.
