Margit is a new faculty member at Camosun College this year but not new to the educational setting. She is looking forward to embracing life and teaching in Victoria (she will not miss shovelling snow in Central BC).

Margit graduated in 1990 from the Dental Hygiene Program  at the College of New Caledonia in Prince George. She graduated from UBC in 2008 with a Bachelor of Dental Science (DH) and in 2015 from Athabasca University with a Master of Health Studies degree. She has 25 years of private practice experience including both general and periodontal practice. Margit had been a dental hygiene educator at CNC for 21 years and still loves to see that “AHA” moment when a student finally understands what she/he has struggled to learn.

Margit feels adamant that one should give back to a profession that has been very rewarding. She is a member of CDHA and BCDHA. She was a former board member of BCDHA for 8 years and served as Chair for five consecutive years during that time. Margit has experience as an item writer and reviewer for the NDHCB as well as examiner for the College of Dental Hygienists of BC. Community involvement is also important for Margit. She served as a board director for the Northern Family Health Society for 4 years and has volunteered for various community events that include Dental Hygiene Week and Run for the Cure.

Margit is excited to have the opportunity to work with colleagues who are committed to inspiring the lives of the students in the Camosun College Dental Hygiene Program.
