To all students

A message from President Sherri Bell

Over the past week, we have asked for your flexibility, patience and understanding as instructors transitioned hundreds of courses and services from face-to-face to alternatives modes of delivery. It’s been an uncertain, rapidly-changing and complex time for all of us.

I know that the adjustments have been challenging. Our focus remains on the health and safety of our Camosun community and ensuring that you - our students, succeed. We will get through this together.

Take care of yourself
It is normal to feel overwhelmed or unsure, whether about studies, exams, transitioning from face-to-face classes or the current COVID-19 situation. Our counsellors are still available to support you.

All of the regular student services have moved from in-person to alternative delivery such as phone, online or other methods. Please visit on the best way to access services.

If you are having a difficult time, remember that you are not alone. Here are some tips for how you can help yourself cope with stress related to COVID-19.

Financial support
We know that a lot of students at Camosun are facing unexpected financial pressures as a result of the changes brought about by COVID-19. We’re looking at the best way the college can provide financial support as soon as possible. More information will be made available as we work through the details, identify available funds and how best to disperse them.

Talk to your instructors about options
We acknowledge that you may find yourselves in extraordinary circumstances that make it impossible for you to participate and complete your coursework. We want to ensure you’re making the most informed decisions about your enrolment, so we strongly encourage you to engage with your instructor(s) to discuss options and ensure you’re making the right choice. You may be farther along than you think, or your instructor may have other suggestions on how you can complete.

Should you find yourself in a situation beyond your control, the Office of the Registrar has made adjustments to course withdrawals and incomplete grades.

Thank you for your patience as we continue to adapt to a new reality as we work to slow the transition of the COVID-19 virus. We recognize the significant challenges students face in relation to planning in their personal and family lives during this time.
