Dean's Newsletter to HHS Students

Dear Students,

The world has changed dramatically over the past six months! I hope you are well wherever you are sheltering in place during COVID-19. It has been exciting to see many of you safely returning/arriving to learn in the CHW and the Dental Clinic. 

Thank you for your patience and accommodation as we continue to offer alternative delivery of courses and programs, whether an online learning format and or safely returning to campus for some labs and clinics. I hope the alternative methods of delivery continue to support your learning. Your instructors have been working very hard and creatively to make the learning experience the best it can be!

Despite the pandemic, a lot is happening to support you at Camosun College including the student representative program (see below). I look forward to meeting with those of you who are interested in representing your program and hearing about your experience as well as sharing with you some student news on October 21.

HHS DEAN’S WELCOME VIDEO TO STUDENTS

STUDENT REPRESENTATIVES

Each fall, Student Representatives are selected by their classmates to be a representative for the academic year of their program in the School of Health and Human Services.

According to their mandate, the Student Representative for each program provides a valuable service in communicating student issues and concerns to Chairs and Program Leaders; enhancing student educational experiences and team building through participation in extracurricular learning experiences; and by representing the School and their program for fundraising and program promotion.

If you are interested in becoming a Student Representative, please speak with your respective Program Leader.

All selected Student Representatives will be invited to a virtual Student Rep Dean’s Meeting taking place on Wednesday, October 21st from 12pm-1pm (more details to come).

Thank you also to all students currently acting as student representatives. We appreciate your continued support.

RESEARCH PARTICIPATION OPPORTUNITY WITH CONCORDIA UNIVERSITY

Concordia University is looking for students in their final semester to serve as participants in a research project on transitioning into the workforce. Eligible students have been sent an email with more information on this opportunity.

Enter your name, C# and email address at the end of the training program to ensure that your record shows up in our web reports—this a crucial step to ensuring your instructor has accurate and up-to-date information! 

These instructions also identify how to save a copy of your completion certificate. We suggest you save a copy and send to your instructor, just to be sure your completion is recorded.
