Our CSEE Alumni are doing great work out in the world. We recently received this write up about two of our Bachelor of Athletic and Exercise Therapy (BAET) Alumni, Laura Guido and Bailey Martin who have been developing their skill sets as Neurological Athletic Therapists with Neuromotion Physiotherapy.

Laura graduated from the Bachelor of Athletic and Exercise Therapy (BAET) program at Camosun College in 2011 and since then has been working with individuals with neurological conditions including, but not limited to, spinal cord injury, MS, Parkinson’s, stroke, and TBI. She began her career as an Athletic Therapist working at PATH SCI injury in Victoria, BC, where her love and passion for neuro rehabilitation began to blossom, and she was able to learn from and work under an amazing Neuro Physiotherapist. She has completed various postgraduate courses including Advanced RT300 FES (Functional Electrical Stimulation), Project Walk © Level 1 Certificate, Stroke Rehabilitation Best Practices, Soft Tissue Massage and Release, Myofascial Cupping, Kinesiotaping, Pre/Post Natal Yoga, Pelvic Floor Yoga, and many others.

Bailey graduated from Camosun College in 2014 with a Bachelor’s degree in Athletic and Exercise Therapy. During her fourth year of school, Bailey spent several months at Neuromotion as part of her clinical practicum and was immediately drawn to neurological rehabilitation. Bailey is inspired every day by the Neuromotion clients and is passionate in her role to help her clients reach their goals. Bailey is also a Certified Exercise Physiologist and a Parkinson Wellness Recovery (PWR) Therapist. She has experience working with individuals with MS, SCI, Parkinson’s disease, cerebral palsy, and muscular dystrophy, amongst others. She was fortunate to take part in the World Parkinson’s Congress in Portland, OR, in 2016 and loves sharing her knowledge and experience to challenge the brain and body, improve symptoms, and slow the progression of the Parkinson’s disease.

Bailey and Laura’s sessions involve the combination of individualized functional training, motivation, deep breathing and hands-on manual therapy to help clients reach their full potential.
