“ShakeOut” earthquake drill - Thursday, October 15 at 10:15am
It’s time to DROP, COVER, HOLD ON then TAKE A SELFIE
On Thursday, October 15, Camosun will participate in the Great BC ShakeOut earthquake drill. Due to COVID restrictions, Camosun will not participate in an evacuation drill, but students, staff and faculty working on campus or remotely will still practice Drop, Cover and Hold On. To shake things up a bit, we are having a contest! While you are doing the HOLD ON portion of the drill, take a selfie then post it to social media with #CamosunShakeOut. Two random social media posts will be selected to win a 72-hour Emergency Supply Backpack!
Get ready to DROP, COVER and HOLD ON
At 10:15am, DROP, COVER and HOLD ON
- If you are at your desk or at home, DROP down and take COVER under your desk or a nearby sturdy table, and HOLD ON
- If you are in a building and there is no cover (no tables, desks or chairs to hide under), DROP to the floor and COVER your head and neck with your arms
- If you are outside or in an open space, stop where you are, DROP to the ground and COVER your head and neck with your arms
- If in a wheelchair, LOCK your wheels in place and, if able, DROP your head forward and COVER your head and neck with your arms
Remain in your safe position for one minute—this year, while counting take a selfie doing the DROP, COVER, HOLD ON drill then post it to social media with #CamosunShakeOut for your chance to win your very own 72-hour Emergency Supply Backpack!
