This program was developed to help students achieve their education goals and begin a fulfilling career in the skilled trades by championing excellence and removing barriers. Over the next three years, this program will provide opportunities to grow awareness of diverse career opportunities for 80 students with sponsorships and wrap-around supports.

Weston Family Scholars will be provided with unique mentoring and networking opportunities at Camosun College. The W. Garfield Weston Foundation recognizes that students succeed when they receive individualized, wrap-around support, not just financial. Successful applicants may receive the following supports while in training: educational costs, living supports, assistance with tooling and personal protective equipment, technical certifications and skills required for employment, mentorship opportunities, among other supports.

This scholarship program has been designed to support students throughout the completion of their technical training. The Weston Family Scholarship is open to students in t¬heir foundation or level 1 apprentice for the following programming: Automotive Service Technician, Carpentry, Electrical, Fine Furniture/Joinery Trades, Heavy Duty Mechanical, Plumbing & Piping Trades, Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Mechanic, Sheet Metal & Metal Fabrication, and Welding. ¬Students are encouraged to submit applications prior to entering their program, however they will be accepted up to 30 days after the start of the program.
