The finalists for National Philanthropy Day (November 16) in Victoria include a number of people with strong connections to Camosun, demonstrating the spirit of generosity surrounding the college.

The Wilson’s Group – featuring Together for Health campaign co-chairs, John Wilson and Samantha Wilson – have been nominated for the Corporate Spirit Award. The Wilsons have been active champions and supporters of Camosun programs in many capacities.

Long-standing Camosun College Foundation board member Robert Noble is in the running for the Outstanding Fundraising Volunteer Award. The Foundation nominated Shari and Mike Corrigan for the same award, due in part to the hard work they contributed to the college’s TRADEmark of Excellence Campaign for the recently completed Centre for Trades Education and Innovation.

Camosun collaborators Sisters of St Ann were nominated by Mount St Mary Hospital for the Generosity of Spirit Award. The Sisters established the foundation of the college’s nursing program, and they continue to support Camosun nursing students through bursaries and financial support.

“The college community encourages social engagement and local connections, and it’s wonderful that there are so many nominees with ties to us,” says Jody Kitts, Director of Advancement and Alumni Engagement. “We appreciate everything that all of these leaders have done for the college. When it comes to philanthropy, the true winners are our students.”

National Philanthropy Day recognizes outstanding community individuals and organizations that are making a difference in the lives of others. Local philanthropists and social activists will gather for the awards ceremony on Friday, November 16.
