We are very pleased to now report that the PISE building will also open for classes tomorrow. The building will open at the usual time. Access to the first floor will remain limited as repairs continue. PISE will remain closed and inaccessible today.
Our environmental consultants indicate that all affected buildings at Interurban have tested well below WorkSafe BC exposure limits.
Thank you again for your continued patience as we work to restore the first floor.

As you return to classes, you may notice some unusual scents in the buildings which are normal after fire restoration.

Update: November 26, 2018
- Centre for Business and Access (CBA)
- Pacific Institute for Sports Excellence (PISE)
- Centre for Trades Education and Innovation (CTEI)
All classes normally scheduled in those three buildings are cancelled for Tuesday.
The rest of Interurban campus remains open and classes offered in other buildings will run as normal. Lansdowne campus was not affected.
Camosun will issue a further advisory on Tuesday afternoon with a status report.
Early Sunday morning, arson incidents along with vandalism and physical damage occurred in four buildings at the Interurban campus. Investigations continue with both the fire and police departments. We are working now to ascertain the full impact of the damage. Our first concern is the health and safety of all employees and students and minimizing the impact on student courses and programs.
As the areas impacted are being cleaned and remediated, it is important that you note these details:
The following buildings will be closed, locked, and inaccessible to everyone (employees and students) for Monday, November 26:
- Centre for Trade Education and Innovation
- Centre for Business and Access
Helmut Huber annex had minimal damage and will be operational Monday. The Technologies building will be open tomorrow morning as the fire doors were operational and the building has a separate airflow system.
All other buildings at the Interurban campus will remain open and fully operational as per a normal Monday.
Classes scheduled in the three impacted buildings are cancelled for Monday. Students should check the college home page and D2L sites for additional information from their instructors.
Please note that we are not closing schools. In effect we are only cancelling courses and programs running in the buildings noted above.
Throughout Monday we will continue to assess the buildings and will determine if further closures are necessary.
Information will be released as soon as we know if further actions are required past Monday and we will try to have this out by 3 pm Monday.
This situation is quite fluid and we ask for some patience. We again need to stress that health and safety are our primary concern followed closely by working to ensure that there is minimum impact on students and their programs.
