Rainbow crosswalks & parade festivities show off Camosun’s pride
Release Date: June 22, 2017
In honour of Pride Week 2017 (July 1–9), Camosun College is debuting two new permanent rainbow crosswalks at both its Interurban (at the bus loop) and Lansdowne campuses (across from Foul Bay Road visitor parking).
Crews are currently putting the finishing touches on the new crosswalks which help to showcase Camosun’s true colours in support of the LGBTQ community. The crosswalks are a joint college and student society initiative. Thanks to Camosun’s Facilities Services department for their support.
Pride Week celebrations culminate on Sunday, July 9 as Camosun’s Pride Collective and Student Society will be joined by students, faculty and staff to march in the Victoria Pride Parade which concludes with a community festival in James Bay. Everyone is welcome to join in the fun and represent Camosun. Please RSVP if you plan on attending; meet us around 11am at the rainbow crosswalk at Centennial Square. Colourful dress is encouraged!
Camosun’s commitment to Pride Week is just one of the many ongoing initiatives related to our values of equity, diversity and inclusivity. The college strives to ensure a learning environment that is respectful and inclusive for all students and employees. For more information, please visit: camosun.ca/diversity
