Camosun Business students raise over $13,000 for Zambian youth

Camosun College Marketing Project Management students raised $13,130 to send rural Zambian youth to the Women for Change Rural Youth Exposure Conference in Lusaka, Zambia this coming August in partnership with their client, VIDEA.
Twenty-six students formed four teams focusing on international service-learning, using Project Management concepts and prior learning in the marketing program, to plan and execute creative fundraising events including:
- Cheers for Change – burger and beer with silent auction @ Frankie’s Modern Diner
- Yoga for a Cause – outdoor yoga @ Topaz Park
- Concert for a Cause – live music and silent auction @ Victoria Event Centre
- Swing into Spring Golf Tournament – 9 holes and silent auction @ Bear Mountain
VIDEA, a local international development organization founded in Victoria celebrating 40 years, is pleased to be connected with School of Business marketing students and recognizes the professionalism and value that student projects bring to their organization.
VIDEA partners with Women for Change in Zambia, a gender focused non-governmental organization (NGO) working with communities, especially women and children in Zambia’s rural areas, to contribute towards sustainable human development using Popular Education Methodologies (PEM).
Congratulations to each of the Mark 420 teams for making it possible for 26 Zambian youth to attend the Rural Youth Exposure Conference this August.
Over the past four years Mark 420 Marketing Project Management students have raised over $44,000 for VIDEA and the Women for Change.
