Camosun and BC Government partner for new work experience pilot program
Release Date: November 2, 2016
Camosun College and BC’s Ministry of Social Development and Social Innovation (SDSI) are partnering to offer a new work experience pilot program for graduates of the College’s Office Administration Certificate Program.
“This is a fantastic opportunity for our students,” says Patricia Gaudreault, Chair of Applied Business Technology in Camosun’s School of Business. “The new pilot program provides office administration students with paid work experience placements in the Ministry and allows them to put their learning into action right after graduation.”
The pilot started with the September 2016 intake and will continue with the January 2017 program intake. It aims to provide training and employment opportunities for office administration students, particularly persons with disabilities, single parents on income assistance, and employment insurance recipients.
Camosun’s 8-month Office Administration certificate program provides graduates with real-world skills to get them started in a career as an administrative professional. Students gain in-depth exposure as an end-user of the technologies required for today’s busy office environments. To learn about the program, visit the office administration website.
Potential students are invited to attend an Information session at Camosun’s Interurban campus on November 17. For more information, please check Camosun’s event calendar.
