To recognize the invaluable contribution of apprentices and their employers to the province's economy and labour force, the British Columbia government has officially proclaimed November 2–6, 2015, as Apprenticeship Recognition Week in BC.

Students and faculty from Camosun's Carpentry, Culinary Arts, and Women in Trades programs showcased their skills at a launch event held November 2 at the BC Legislature.

According to the latest BC Ministry of Advanced Education Apprenticeship Student Outcomes Survey, more than half of former apprenticeship students surveyed on Vancouver Island were pursuing careers in either carpentry or welding.
