Release Date: March 12, 2015
Camosun College will launch a 10-month, part-time evening Digital Marketing certificate program in September 2015 that will equip participants with leading-edge, applied training, tools and techniques to effectively market a brand, service or product online. A free information session will be held March 30, 5:30 to 6:30pm in the Tectoria building at 777 Fort Street.
"The huge variety of social media platforms, marketing technologies and data analytics have brought a new dimension to advertising and marketing that require new business skills and strategy," says Elaine Paterson, Program Coordinator. "Opportunities for specialists with digital marketing skills have never been greater."
Designed and taught by experienced digital marketing professionals, the 210-hour program—two evenings a week over 10 months—will enable students to develop comprehensive skills including:
- Digital content creation and strategy
- Traffic generation and analytics
- Social Media and online engagement
- Email marketing creation and strategy
- Online advertising fundamentals
- Website creation and development using WordPress
An innovative feature of Camosun's program is that students will create and execute an online marketing strategy for an actual business or agency of their choosing, such as their employer's business. Several students in the first class this fall will be working on strategy for their own businesses.
The program is designed for people who have excellent writing skills, some post-secondary education, and who ideally, are already active in social media.
"Interest in the new program is strong," says Paterson. "Victoria employers helped us identify this skills gap. Camosun is pleased to respond with the new Digital Marketing program."
