The Camosun College Bookstore recently launched its "order online/pick-up in-store" program to help students save time and avoid line-ups during their first week back to school.
Every Fall students head back to classes and are faced with long bookstore line-ups. While the Camosun College Bookstore endeavors to keep the line-up moving, students can wait up to 20 to 30 minutes in line during peak times of the day.
Building on the success of its pilot program introduced at the Interurban campus last September, the Bookstore is excited to now provide an online ordering service to all Camosun students. "It really is very easy to use," says Laura-Lea Berna, Manager of Ancillary Services at Camosun.
"Students place their textbook orders online at our Bookstore website and select the "pick-up in-store" option. Students self-select at the beginning of the order process which campus they will be taking classes, purchase their textbooks and the books are packaged up and ready for pick-up at the Bookstore on the student's campus, either Interurban or Lansdowne." The service costs $4 which pays for handling and packaging.
And the results thus far? "We are already seeing a huge increase in the use of the pick-up in-store option and well over half of our web orders are being picked up. As we get closer to the first day of classes on September 4, we expect this number to climb," says Berna.
Students do need to act now as the Bookstore is only able to offer in-store pick-up for orders placed up to and including August 29 due to staff being required to get ready for the back to school rush. The service will resume after September 14.
Camosun students are also reminded that the Bookstore at both campuses remains open during the summer and now is the perfect time to shop for back to school. "Textbooks for the Fall start have been on our selves since August 7," states Berna.
