Camosun’s Continuing Education department presents Solar Saturday—a FREE, fun, fact-filled day that will inform and inspire the public about the world of renewable, sustainable, alternative energy systems for residential living spaces. This event is for everyone from the homeowner looking to hire a reputable contractor, to the tradesperson looking for industry training and certification. Join dozens of sustainability enthusiasts and experts at Camosun’s Interurban campus for a full day of presentations, displays and networking.
Keynotes, Workshops, Exhibits to stimulate and educate
Well-known sustainability author and activist Guy Dauncey kicks off Solar Saturday with a keynote address exploring what the solar future might look like. Dave Egles, known and respected across Canada for his leadership in renewable energies, will wrap up with a challenge to all to get involved in the local sustainability community.
Workshop topics include: The Energy Efficient Home; LEED Green Building; Solar Water Heating; Solar Power Electricity; Wind Power; Residential Geothermal Systems and NABCEP Certification/Professional Recognition.
Solar Saturday participants, will:
- learn about a range of proven, practical, and sustainable technologies including solar hot water, solar space heat, solar electricity (photovoltaic) and wind generated electricity;
- gather information on building efficiency, industry standards and rating systems.
- discover exciting professional training and certification opportunities;
- learn the lingo of the industry to hire a qualified contractor and assess different systems.
Solar Saturday is free, but registration is required.
Date: Saturday October 22, 9am – 3pm
