First-annual corporate challenge rocks-n-socks Interurban March 18
April 2, 2009
Despite damp, grey weather, the inaugural Camosun Commotion event attracted eight teams of students and staff who battled their way through an activity challenge encompassing everything from brain teasers to brute strength.
Three-member teams completed a word puzzle, raced on tiny bikes, stumbled together through a 4-legged race, and climbed over obstacles before scaling the Slippery Slope – a giant, 12-foot high, tarp-covered triangle. In an exciting final round, the winning team “The Lucky Charms” (Josh Brakefield, Duncan Carnes, and Kyle Scarff) completed the course in just 3 minutes, 24 seconds.
Camosun Cammotion was devised, developed, and deployed by Centre for Sport and Exercise Education students as a joint project between first-year Sport Management and second-year Exercise and Wellness classes. The event finished with a Camosun College Student Society beverage garden, a well-deserved celebratory venue for participants and spectators. Watch out for next year’s Camosun Commotion, which promises to be bigger and better!
