- Are you interested in Canada's presence in Afghanistan?
- Do you want to learn about the experiences of those individuals whose work with donor agencies takes place in conflict zones?
- Are you curious about results?
Mr. Kevin Rex, Acting Director of Policy for Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA's) Afghanistan Task Force will be coming to Camosun for International Development Week on February 4 to provide an overview of Canadian development assistance activities in Afghanistan. He will also share with the Camosun College community his work and his personal experience in Afghanistan, bring us up-to-date on the program and progress being made in that country, and will respond to questions you may have.
Deployed to Kandahar last November, Kevin represented the CIDA at the Kandahar Airfield. In his role as Development Advisor ‘DEVAD’, as well as a stint as Political Advisor, he worked directly for the Commander of Joint Task Force Afghanistan, Major General Tim Grant. From 2004 until his deployment to Afghanistan, he served as of one of the Foreign Policy Advisors to the Prime Minister at the Foreign and Defence Policy Secretariat of the Privy Council Office. In this capacity, he supported the Prime Minister in his international role as Head of Government for Canada by providing advice on national security, foreign and defence policy issues, related to Africa, Europe and the United Nations.
