Camosun College’s annual Capstone event will showcase a variety of projects from the Electronics & Computer Engineering Technology program’s graduating students, Friday December 5 at Interurban campus. Projects range from an auto guitar tuner to a home lock system controlled from your smartphone to a virtual reality controlled drone. The projects represent work the students have done for the last three months.


Camosun College Nautical student wins prestigious bursary

Simon Winterburn was presented with the Nautical Professional Education Society of Canada (NPESC) Bursary on November 25, 2014. The $1,500 award is presented annually to students who are enrolled in a marine training course and have demonstrated a high-level of excellence and potential for future success.


Trades Exploration program available for high school students

Trades Awareness, Skills & Knowledge (TASK) is designed for high school students who are thinking about a career in trades. As a dual-credit program, TASK is offered through the South Island Partnership, which means students will earn high school and college credit at the same time, with the college tuition covered by their school district.

ITA launches new online job match tool for trades apprentices

Sara Wilson, Camosun College Sheet Metal and Metal Fabrication grad and apprentice, came in second at the Canadian Sheet Metal Apprenticeship Competition in Windsor, Ontario. Sara was one of 11 apprentices, and the only woman, who competed in the event put on by the Canadian Council of Sheet Metal Workers and Roofers. Camosun instructor delivers wind energy lecture to Brazilian engineering students

A class of nearly 70 first-year engineering students in south Brazil linked to Camosun's Library technology centre for a video conference and lecture on wind energy. The Brazilian students attend IFSul, the Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology in Pelotas, Brazil, and the guest lecture was delivered as part of their Introduction to Engineering course.

Camosun Chargers Golfer Jarred Callbeck grabs victory at 2014 Cedar Hill Golf Tournament

Jarred Callbeck was, as they say, "locked in" this past weekend. The decorated Charger standout followed his opening 5-under par 62 on Saturday with a 63 on Sunday winning the 36-hole tourney. The impressive result wasn't without a sweat, as Callbeck nailed an eight-foot birdie putt on the final hole to grasp victory by one stroke. Camosun DECA delivers outstanding performance

Twenty three DECA students and three faculty advisors travelled to Seattle on February 20-22 to compete in the Pacific Northwest Career Development Conference (PNCDC). The students competed in a variety of events as individuals or teams that were either prepared or timed preparation cases. Camosun returned loaded with hardware with three 1st, two 2nd, and two 3rd place finishes and a total of 17 students placing in the top 5 of their respective categories. A total of 131 students from 7 post-secondary schools participated.
