Weekly care hampers, featuring an abundance of nutritious fresh produce, tasty prepared meals, essential hygiene products, and even easy-to-follow recipes, are available to any student who requests them—on a first-come, while hampers last basis.

As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to disrupt critical supply chains around the world, the resulting shortages of essential medical supplies have forced health care systems to look for safe and efficient ways to reuse the personal protective equipment (PPE) required daily by frontline health workers. Camosun Innovates, the applied research and development arm of Camosun College, is stepping up to meet this challenge locally by designing and prototyping a portable, affordable and effective PPE sterilization chamber for Island Health.

Applications for StudentAid BC, along with the new non-repayable B.C. Access Grant, are now open.
This up-front grant, along with new funding for students with disabilities, expanded open education resources and online support through BCcampus, will open doors for students to return to school and earn the college or university credential of their choice.

In previous years, Camosun College has joined with local communities to celebrate National Indigenous Peoples Day with activities, including a canoe challenge, on the shore of Esquimalt Lagoon. However, like so many other events, we’ve had to postpone plans for a physical celebration this year due to COVID-19.

Many of Camosun hospitality management student Mairin Scott’s happiest childhood memories involve restaurants and hotels around British Columbia. “When I was a kid my dad worked for Fairmont and Hilton and Delta and our family moved all over the place,” she says. “I got to see a wide variety of great hotels at a young age and go out for dinners at nice restaurants. I think that’s when I really just fell in love with the whole hospitality industry.”
