Today, third-year Camosun College Charger Matthew Gray is one of the leading athletes in the PACWEST conference. The 6’0” University Transfer student has been ranked Top 5 in assists throughout the majority of the season thus far, and is described by Camosun Men’s Basketball Head Coach, Scot Cuachon, as the team’s “floor general and decision maker.”

Camosun men’s basketball team collects third consecutive split in weekend thriller

Following four weeks of competition, the Camosun Chargers Men’s Basketball team closed their 2019 PACWEST calendar openers with their third consecutive split after executing two thrilling see-saw battles against the Langara College Falcons in Vancouver. Both games were as tight as they get, with the first contest ending in overtime, as the two teams traded points right up until the final frames.

Led by veteran players Tessa Lannon-Paakspuu and Kathryn Candell, the Camosun Chargers Women’s Basketball team exploded into the New Year this past weekend with back-to-back wins over the Langara College Falcons in Vancouver. The Chargers fired up their fourth consecutive victory and sit third in the PACWEST conference standings with a record of 5-3. Over the past four weeks of competition, Camosun has risen to a #10 national ranking in the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association.

Arson incident at Interurban campus

Early Sunday morning, arson incidents along with vandalism and physical damage occurred in four buildings at the Interurban campus. Investigations continue with both the fire and police departments. We are working now to ascertain the full impact of the damage. Our first concern is the health and safety of all employees and students and minimizing the impact on student courses and programs.

National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women

November 25 is the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, kicking off 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence. In recognition of this time, Camosun’s Office of Student Support is hosting a number of events on campus, and invite students to both reflect on violence against women and to take action to end it.
