As the pandemic continues to bring challenges to many students, the Camosun community is stepping up to show how much they care. Weekly care hampers, featuring an abundance of nutritious fresh produce, tasty prepared meals, non-perishable food items, essential hygiene products, and even easy-to-follow recipes, are available to any student who requests them—on a first-come basis.

In celebration of Black History Month 2021, the Camosun Library published a resource guide presenting a diverse sampling of works by Black authors and creators, ranging from historical fiction, poetry, non-fiction, memoirs, streaming media, and literary classics. Author and Camosun alum, N.P. (Nyasha) Katedza, guest-curated the guide, selecting resources for their impact and influence on her life and literary practice.

Five first-year Indigenous Students at Camosun College received $5,000 each to help fund their education through the CIBC Entrance Awards for Indigenous Students.
The CIBC Entrance Awards for Indigenous Students Awards are funded annually and, through endowments, allow students to focus on achieving their academic goals and transition into meaningful careers with out the added financial stress.

Concert Properties and its partners donated $90,000 this year to support Camosun College’s “Trades for Success” programming for youth, adult and K-12 learners in communities with limited access to training providers or public post-secondary institutions. The goal of the project is to build awareness of Red Seal trades and of how these career pathways lead to sustainable employment within underserved regions of British Columbia.
