Indigenous Studio Arts - ART 106-001

In this introduction to Indigenous approaches to art, you will discover the transformative power of creativity through traditional Indigenous art forms. Masks, drums, button blankets and storytelling are all traditional forms for Indigenous cultures; find out how these are still relevant today.

Introduction to Criminology - CRIM 166-004

Crime, criminal behaviour, crime victims, consequences – every day the media floods us with stories that anger, terrify and yet fascinate us. We need to understand the cause before we can understand potential solutions and in this academic approach to criminology, you will examine theories and relevant research in relation to other social sciences. This course is part of Camosun’s Criminal Justice diploma and associate degree programs, and can also be used as a social sciences elective for a university degree.

World Religions of the East - REL 102-002

Today, more than ever, our daily lives are influenced, enriched and threatened by diverse global issues, which in turn are often tied to religion and religious traditions. In this introductory course you will learn about Hinduism, Buddhism, Sikhism, Shintiosm and Chinese religions, exploring the sources, beliefs and practices of these religions. The traditions of each will be studied in their cultural and political contexts from both historical and contemporary perspectives.
