African Awareness Committee presents Stefanie Miska on “Heavenly Home Academy in Ghana”
Stefanie is a former Camosun College student and recipient of the Leadership in African Awareness Award. Stefanie has been working with Heavenly Home Academy in the western region of Ghana since 2006. Together with other Camosun students, she raised thousands of dollars to support the construction of the community school. Stefanie will share with us how she started her volunteer work in Ghana and how she sustains her passion in supporting the school and the community.
Be the change
If you are curious about the world and want to make a difference, you will love Social Sciences. By investigating society through an understanding of people, place and power you will develop the critical thinking skills necessary to engage, challenge and change the world. Camosun offers social science courses in eight inter-related subjects, all of which provide university transfer credit.
In the classroom
Study the world around you and learn to build sustainable environments, organizations and communities. Social Science courses develop an understanding of diversity of environmental politics, gender relations, global issues, social polarization, labour markets, and more through this interdisciplinary learning environment.
Build towards a stable career in education, social work, archaeological studies, economics, social psychology, research fields and so much more.
Program or individual courses
You can take Social Science courses within one of our programs or as individual university transfer courses. If you plan to take individual courses at Camosun, when you apply online, you will select University Transfer as your program option.
"I have this extraordinary curiosity about all subjects of the natural and human world and the interaction between the physical sciences and the social sciences."
