In the classroom
Humanities courses will teach you to think critically about your subject matter, to express ideas clearly and coherently, to question the past and the present, and to examine the origins of beliefs and experience. In short, you will examine the meaning contained in interactions between humans past and present.
You will focus on how humans communicate with each other by studying
- how language is spoken and constructed
- how people have expressed their political, philosophical, and religious beliefs
- how societies have been constructed and how those societies have changed over the past 2000 years
You will learn skills critical to successfully analyzing problems and communicating your ideas. These skills will take you to further study and careers in the professional sector. Careers in Humanities are varied and diverse with opportunities in education, government, journalism, law, research, linguistics, international development, counselling, public relations, and archival and museum work.
