The study of English language and literature develops your creativity, builds your critical thinking abilities, and provides you with the skills you need to succeed in a wide range of careers. English is about understanding and interpreting language, culture, and tradition, and developing the skills necessary to communicate your own views clearly and with style.
Literature is the art of discovering something extraordinary about ordinary people, and saying with ordinary words something extraordinary.
