Find Your Voice
Creative writing courses are an exploration of craft and imagination. By reading great works and discussing the techniques behind them, you will learn to hone your literary talents and expand your creative abilities. You can experiment with genres and discover your personal writing style.
Credit Courses
Choose face-to-face or online courses
While most of our creative writing courses are offered in a classroom setting, we also offer courses – like CRWR 152 and CRWR 154 – in an online format. The choice is yours.
Learn from fellow writers
The small class sizes at Camosun will allow you to work closely with creative writing peers and instructors in a workshop-like environment. Not only does this provide a built-in community of writers, but it also allows you to learn from your audience.
Make it professional
As a creative writing student, you will have a chance to submit to and edit a literary journal. You can gain hands-on experience with the editing and publishing process while at the same time earning course credit for CRWR 159.
Take the next step
Whether creative writing is a career goal or just a personal passion, you will be building useful skills. Not only are most CRWR courses transferable to institutions within BC, but creative writers are well positioned to work in publishing, journalism, advertising, marketing, or copy writing. Creative writing can also lead to professions in the entertainment or media industries.
Continuing Education courses
Designed for adults with busy lives, Camosun Continuing Education offers a wide variety of professional development and personal interest courses and certificates that can be taken part-time or online. Our writing and publishing intensive courses offer outstanding instruction tailored for part-time learners.
It's none of their business that you have to learn to write. Let them think you were born that way.
