The study of life
Biology helps us understand our world, from DNA and the microscopic to whole organisms and global ecosystems. If it is part of life, it’s Biology.
Why Study Biology?
The Biological sciences are at the forefront of cutting edge research in medicine, biotechnology and the environment. Through Biology we tackle key ecological issues and global challenges. As the study of life, Biology connects us with the world we live in. The study of Biology allows us to make informed decisions about our health and the health of our planet on issues such as use of antibiotics, personalized medicine, resource limitations and removal of invasive species.
Whether you decide to make a career in Biology or are interested in exciting electives, Biology is an excellent choice. Everyone benefits from Biology because of the skills it provides in literacy, numeracy, analytical thinking, social awareness and an ability to make connections between natural, social, economic, political and technological fields.
