The School of Arts & Science, in partnership with the Camosun College Foundation, offers a series of awards to our outstanding students. Camosun also offers a wide selection of bursaries for full-time students.
Eligibility
To be eligible you must be enrolled in a program within the School of Arts & Science during the current offering or academic calendar year.

Awards Ceremony
The School of Arts & Science hosts an annual Awards Ceremony each fall, where most of the awards and scholarships are presented.
The Arts & Science Administration Office will notify the recipients of their award/scholarship (end of September) and then invitations to the Awards Ceremony will be sent out by email.

This award acknowledges high academic achievement (GPA) and is given annually to a science student going into their second year of either the Associate of Science Degree or UT program, who is a full-time student and carries a minimum of 3 courses in science and/or mathematics per term. Latham Pazdro Women in the World Award
The award is open to Camosun individuals or groups who, in their course assignments, have done a substantial piece of work on the subject of women. Please submit a piece of work such as art, a body of creative writing or a unique research essay in which women are the focus. The submission must be a Camosun College School of Arts & Science course assignment completed in the current academic year, submitted with the instructor's original class assignment, include your name and C#.

This award is named for Roberta Pazdro and Barbara Latham, co-editors of Not Just Pin Money: Selected Essays on the History of Women's Work in British Columbia(1984), the publication which initially funded this Award.
Roberta Pazdro is a long time production manager in the Canadian film and television industry in Toronto; Barbara Latham is a retired Camosun instructor who, amongst other things, taught the first Women's Studies Course in Sociology.
Nicole Borthwick Spirit Award

The Associate of Arts Degree Award - Second-Year acknowledges high academic achievement and is given annually to a student in year two of the Associate of Arts Degree Program. You should have successfully completed at least 16 University Transfer courses in the Associate of Arts Degree Program, with a minimum of 6 second-year courses, as well as a high GPA. Preference will be given to those whose GPA is 7.0 (A-) or higher. CFUW Victoria Heather Lewis Associate Degree in Arts & Science Entrance Awards
The CFUW Victoria Heather Lewis Associate Degree in Arts & Science Entrance Awards provide entrance scholarships to students registered in the first year of the Associate Degree in Arts or Science diploma program. One recipient in Arts and one recipient in Science will be selected by faculty, based on your high academic achievement as indicated in your high school graduation official transcript and Provincial exam transcript.

Colin Montesano Memorial Associate Degree Awards
This award recognizes a mature student enrolled in the Associate Degree program who has been away from formal academic studies for at least three years prior to attending Camosun College. You must be returning to complete your second year at Camosun and have completed at least two Psychology or two Math courses with a minimum grade point average of 7 or above (A-). Dave and Bev Knapton Associate of Arts Degree Scholarship
The Dave and Bev Knapton Associate of Arts Degree Scholarship acknowledges high academic achievement and is given annually to a Canadian citizen or landed immigrant in the first year of the Associate of Arts Degree Program. You must have taken a minimum of eight first-year courses (four courses per semester) and be registered for at least four courses in the upcoming fall semester. Preference will be given to those whose GPA is 7.0 (A-) or higher.

Social Sciences
Andrew Smith Community Engagement Award
This award recognizes academic achievement and commitment to social justice in the Greater Victoria region. The student must be registered in a minimum of four social science courses in the current academic year. Preference will be given to those whose GPA is 7.0 (A-) or higher. Students must submit a letter of no more than 500 words outlining their social justice work and interest in the social sciences.

The gift is to provide scholarships to students who will be studying in an academic institution in the Asia-Pacific region who have successfully completed two semesters of study in Social Sciences and /or Humanities. Preference given to students who demonstrate a commitment to future study and/or employment involving the Asia-Pacific region. Camosun ESRI Canada GIS Scholarship
This award is intended for an exemplary student to further their geographic literacy, spatial awareness, critical thinking and analytical skills. Students are encouraged to apply the GIS technology they learn in class to address real-world problems and improve their decision-making ability.
Please submit a summary report on an individually prepared GIS project completed for a Camosun class. This report shall state which class the project was done for; describe the research problem and analytical solution; and be judged upon criteria of originality, quality of analysis and professional presentation. Submit all relevant GIS files in electronic format and a Camosun College transcript. You should have an average of at least a B+ overall and be currently enrolled at Camosun College. Scholarship FAQ can be answered on the ESRI website. Note: No student shall receive this award more than once.

Social Sciences Award for Outstanding Student
This award recognizes and supports the achievement of a deserving Social Sciences student. The criteria for selection include a high academic standing, originality of insight, and excellence in writing. The Social Science Award for Outstanding Student is awarded to a student who is registered as an A&S Studies, University Transfer or Associate Degree student in the current academic year taking at least 3 second year courses offered by the Social Sciences Department at Camosun College. You should be about to complete your degree at Camosun or returning to complete your second-year at Camosun, have superior grades (GPA minimum A-, 7.0 in a 9 grade scale) and GPA will be based on the applicant's two most recent semesters. Please submit an essay of no more than 500 words describing future academic or career plans as they relate to the Social Sciences. Note: Social Sciences courses include the following: Anthropology, Asia Pacific Studies, Gender, Sexuality and Women's Studies, Geography, Political Science, Sociology, and Social Work.
