Supply Chain

SCMT 601G • Inventory Management Schedule

This one-day workshop will focus on the purpose and function of inventory and inventory replenishment management and is part of the APICS Principles Workshop Series.

Managing inventories is a very important task. Inventories account for an enormous portion of a firm’s cash expenditure, ranging anywhere from 10 percent to as high as 60 percent or more. Failure to effectively manage inventories can result in excess costs that drag down company profitability and create mismatches between what is available and what customers really want.

SCMT 603G • Material Requirements Planning Schedule

This one-day workshop will focus on Basics of MRP and Managing with MRP and is part of the APICS Principles Workshop Series.

Material requirements planning is a set of techniques that uses bill of material data, inventory data and the master production schedule to calculate requirements for materials. Time-phased MRP begins with the items listed on the master production schedule (MPS) and determines (1) the quantity of all components and materials required to fabricate those items, and (2) the date that the components and material are required. Time-phased MRP is accomplished by exploding the bill of material, adjusting for inventory quantities on hand or on order, and offsetting the net requirements by the appropriate lead times.

SCMT 604G • Distribution & Logistics Management Schedule

This one-day workshop will focus on Distribution and Logistics management and is part of the APICS Principles Workshop Series.

The velocity of change brought about by the power of the customer, technology enablers, cost pressures, and globalization requires businesses to construct agile, flexible and fast-paced distribution and logistics functions. The distribution channel determines how products and services make their way from the manufacturer to the customer. Logistics facilitates this movement of materials and marketplace information through the distribution pipeline.

SCMT 605G • Purchasing Fundamentals Schedule

This one-day workshop will focus on Fundamentals of Purchasing, Purchase order management and performance measurement and is part of the APICS Principles Workshop Series.

Purchasing is the function of procuring materials, supplies, and services, maintaining purchase order priorities, managing supply relationships, and ensuring high levels of performance to achieve quality, delivery and cost objectives.

SCMT 609G • Warehousing & Materials Handling Schedule

This one-day workshop will focus on Warehouse Management and Materials Handling and is part of the APICS Principles Workshop Series.

In today’s highly networked, interoperable supply chains, warehousing can provide core value-added services. The need to reposition warehouse functions as fundamental strategic sources of competitive differentiation and marketplace leadership has grown. The key to production warehouse management is the efficient and effective use of the storage and materials handling equipment needed to receive, store and move inventory to the customer.

Operations

SCMT 602G • Forecasting & Demand Management Schedule

This one-day workshop will focus on forecasting and demand management and is part of the APICS Principles Workshop Series.

Much of the success of enterprise planning and decision making depends on the formulation of accurate forecasts. Forecasting permits firms to establish performance measurements for customer service, plan the level of total inventory investment, choose between alternative operating strategies, and develop assumptions about the stability of the business to respond to the future needs of the marketplace.

SCMT 606G • Sales & Operations Planning Schedule

This one-day workshop will focus on S&OP and Aggregate Operations Planning and is part of the APICS Principles Workshop Series.

It is the role of Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) to provide the process for continually revising the strategic business plan and synchronizing the plans of the various departments to meet changes in the marketplace and the capabilities of the business. S&OP is a cross-functional plan that involves sales and marketing, operations, and senior management.

SCMT 607G • Master Scheduling Schedule

This one-day workshop will focus on the master scheduling foundations and processes and is part of the APICS Principles Workshop Series.

Sales and operations (S&OP) plans deal with aggregate planning values, such as product families and productive resources, extending over long-range planning horizons. In contrast, master scheduling deals with the actual end-products or finished goods that he company makes and sells, planned over the medium-term time frame. The master schedule is the translation of the sales and operations plan into specific products with their quantities and timing determined.

SCMT 608G • CRP & Production Activity Control Schedule

This one-day workshop will focus on the master scheduling foundations and processes and is part of the APICS Principles Workshop Series.

LEAN has emerged as a philosophy preaching the total elimination of waste and the optimization of productive resources, a toolbox of techniques for process improvement, and a system through which companies and their business partners can deliver continuous improvement and customer satisfaction.
