Multi-Industry Skills Training (MIST)

Multi-industry Skills Training (MIST) provides certification training for entry-level positions to participants who are job-ready for the Construction Trades. The focus of the training will be for employment in multiple sectors including oil and gas, marine, road-building, and construction. MIST graduates will have the skills and certification to effectively contribute to a diverse and productive workplace.

Multi-Industry Skills Training (MIST) program

Program dates
September 4-28, 2018 (Monday-Friday 20 days total)
Camosun Coastal Centre
100 Maplebank Rd, Victoria, BC

Graduates will receive the following industry training/certifications

  • Essential skills
  • First Aid - Level 1
  • Fall protection
  • Confined space
  • Fire watch
  • Transporting dangerous goods
  • Interpersonal communication
  • Conflict resolution
  • Employability skills
  • Workplace practicum

Program eligibility

  • Unemployed and non-EI eligible, or
    • not currently employed or working less than 20 hours per week and actively seeking full-time sustainable employment and no EI in the last 3 years (or 5 years maternity/parental)
  • Employed but underemployed, or
    • not permanent or full-time, e.g. casual, temporary, seasonal, part-time or not fully utilizing their education/experience in field
  • Employed but low-skilled
    • employed but no high school diploma or has not yet achieved Level 3 in ALLS (Adult Literacy and Life Skills) on the Test of Workplace Essential Skills
