Captain Morteza Peivast Program Leader, Nautical Training
Growing up by the seaside, I always had a passion for sailing. I started my sea career at the age of eighteen when I got a scholarship to study nautical science at Hogere Zeevaart School, in Antwerp, Belgium. I started my first voyage as a third officer on a deep sea bulk carrier in 1988 and as a master in 1998, I have sailed on deep sea and coastal vessels worldwide.
In 2002 I was offered a teaching position in a Maritime Training Institute and served there until 2014.
During twelve years of teaching I also studied towards my MSc. degree in maritime operations from LJMU, studied liability insurance with NEPIA, authored marine insurance books and acted as marine insurance advisor for insurance companies.
I served at BC Ferries as mate and master before joining Camosun College.
I am always looking to expand my knowledge in maritime field, and always open to new ideas in related matters.
