Rod Lidstone Instructor, Plumbing, Pipe & Refrigeration Trades
Rod was inspired to enter the Pipes trade because his father was a heavy duty mechanic who then pursued many other entrepreneurial ventures. His father always said that no matter what you do in life, you will always be able to fall back on a trade. Rod started his Steam/Pipefitting apprenticeship in 1980 at Yarrows Shipyard, serving as the first 2 ½ years of his apprenticeship. From there he chose to work for a wide variety of disciplines in the piping industry and received Certification for the Pipefitting, Plumbing, and Gasfitting trades.
In 1998 Rod began teaching full time at Camosun College after teaching night classes for a number of years with the United Association of Plumbers and Pipe fitters. You will find that he is a very high tempo instructor and enjoys students who are enthusiastic about the Pipe trades. When Rod’s not working on pipes he plays recreation hockey and enjoys snow skiing and all types of fishing.
