Robert Budlong Instructor, Culinary Arts
Born on Vancouver Island, and a graduate of Malaspina University College, Robert brings more than 17 years of professional cooking experience with leading world-class hotels and resorts across Canada.
Robert began his career as an apprentice at the Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge. After receiving his trade qualifications Robert worked his way up the culinary ladder the kitchens of the Fairmont Vancouver Airport; The Delta Victoria Ocean Pointe and Spa; The Fairmont Whistler; The Fairmont Palliser; The Westin Bear Mountain Resort in Victoria; Black Rock Oceanfront Resort in Ucluelet and The Westin Edmonton.
Always wanting to be back on the Island Robert was drawn back to Victoria in 2014 as Executive Chef with The Oak Bay Beach Hotel. This positon led to his first experience teaching as a substitute Instructor at Camosun College.
Most recently Robert headed up the kitchen as Executive Chef at The Renaissance Edmonton Airport but jumped at the opportunity to rejoin Camosun and continue to pursue his dream of Instructing Culinary Arts full time.
