Dean’s Message • Peter Rehor
Welcome to the Centre for Sport and Exercise Education!
This is a remarkable centre, with outstanding faculty, students, and staff working together in a range of academic programs that integrate sport, fitness and wellness with management, science and leadership through its innovative, cutting-edge philosophy and practices. The Centre for Sport & Exercise Education (CSEE) is an exciting new addition to the College.
Established in 2006, CSEE offers unique academic programs and athletic/recreation programs for the College. We offer diverse curricula that nurture creative thinking and prepare students for productive and rewarding careers. We promise our students a commitment to excellence in three key areas: ensuring student access; developing and encouraging interdisciplinary knowledge and practice; exploring new frontiers in sport medicine and management while creating better futures for British Columbians. Within each of these areas, our Centre is operating in an environment that encourages diversity and inclusiveness.
We serve our college, our province, our nation, and our world through our teaching, and we strengthen our communities through outreach and through graduating well-educated leaders with a global perspective and an eye for innovation. Our graduates start their professional lives well-equipped to succeed in a rapidly changing world.
The home of CSEE, the Pacific Institute for Sport Excellence (PISE), is a vision and implementation of a unique Canadian model for sport development that will fuel Canada's sport performance, build a healthier nation and develop role models to inspire physical literacy. This model focuses on the management, leadership and science of sport and wellness through an emphasis on innovation, technology and research.
Our graduates are prepared for careers in fitness, the sport industry, health and rehabilitation, and are having a direct impact on health care cost savings by increasing participation in sport and exercise. Together, we have great opportunities to build upon our strengths while developing new areas of expertise. Each of us—alumni, faculty, students, staff, parents, and friends of the Centre — has important and unique contributions to make as we shape our college's future.
I invite you to join in our exhilarating mission.
