Travel & Accommodation

We highly recommend that participants book their accommodation early as the end of August is still considered high tourist season in Victoria and hotel availability will reflect this.

From the Lower Mainland

  • Ferry - BC Ferries operates daily sailings with vehicle and walk-on service from Tsawwassen Ferry terminal to Swartz Bay Ferry terminal for those coming from Vancouver and the Lower Mainland. This is the most direct route however there are additional options if you are coming from north of Vancouver or the Gulf Islands.
    • If walking on the ferry there are several options for transport into Victoria from Swartz Bay. The most cost effective option is to catch the #70 public transit bus, which leaves directly from the terminal and gets you into downtown in approximately 45-50 minutes. You can also purchase bus tickets on the ferry or off their website for the connector bus service operated by Wilson’s transportation. The Ferry Connector bus service runs from the Train Station and various pick-up points in downtown Vancouver directly into Victoria, which includes the ferry fee.
  • Seaplane - There is a seaplane service between downtown Vancouver and downtown Victoria operated by HarbourAir.
  • V to V - Operates a new cruise-style passenger ferry between downtown Vancouver and downtown Victoria. The journey takes 3.5 hours with an emphasis on sight-seeing.

From Up-Island and Gulf Islands

  • Bus - Daily service from up island (Tofino, Port Hardy, Campbell River, Parksville, Nanaimo etc.), is offered by Tofino Bus and Greyhound. Tickets can be purchased online and rates vary.
  • Ferry - There are a number of ferry routes that may suit your needs, please see the BC Ferries website for more information.
  • Seaplane - HarbourAir also offers flights from Nanaimo and Comox into Victoria. Please see their website for more information.
