BA Psychology with Minor in Indigenous Studies
Niibinobinesiik indigo anishinaabemong. Maang ingwiime. Nicole nindizhinikaaz zhaaganaashiimomg. The spirits know me as summer thunderbird, my name comes from the Loon. On my mother’s side I am Anishinaabe and Irish, my family was born in Oka yet were displaced from the River desert band (now known as Kitigan Zibi) My father side is Ukrainian and they settled in Cree territory (Winnipeg). I’ve had the privilege of growing up on Lekwungen and Esquimalt territories and gratefully acknowledge the relations who steward these territories.
I completed my bachelors in Psychology and minor in Indigenous studies at the University of Victoria whilst also working primarily with Indigenous youth at the VNFC. Presently I am grateful to be an IA out in Tsartlip for ELC students and working with the Old Ones through the Elders Voices Program.
