Dianne Biin Tsilhqot'in, Faculty
BA SFU, MEd UBC
Welcome. I am from the Tsi Del Del community in Tsilhqot’in territory. Our territory neighbours the Dakelh Nation to the North, Secwepemc Nation to the East, Stl'at'imc Nation to the South and Kwakwaka'wakw and Nuxalk Nations to the West. I thank the W̱SÁNEĆ and Lekwungen peoples for allowing me to live and work on their traditional lands for the past 25 years. I hold a Bachelor of Arts degree from Simon Fraser University (1994) and a Masters of Education degree from University of British Columbia (2015).
I started working at Camosun College in 2009 as an instructor in the Indigenous Studies program. I am currently the Indigenization Coordinator while on leave from the Centre for Excellence in Teaching and Learning. With my community development, cultural competency and entrepreneurship background, I also teach various courses in the School of Business and Continuing Education department.
As an instructor, I'm empowered when working with Indigenous students because our shared knowledge and experiences build a humbling and reciprocal learning environment. I also appreciate the learning with non-Indigenous students and colleagues as we explore how to indigenize and reconcile our relationships.
Sechanalyagh (thank you)
