Dean’s message

Welcome to the School of Health and Human Services!

We are a diverse school offering programs in Nursing, Dental Hygiene and Dental Assistant, Allied Health, Mental Health and Addictions, Community Support, and Early Learning and Care. Some programs are offered as professional development such as Activity Assistant and Foot Care. Check out a complete list of all the School of Health and Human Services programs.

All programs have a practical component where clinical and service skills are honed and students learn about social justice, equity and the factors that influence health in order to understand the whole person. Guided by Camosun’s Indigenous educators, we ensure that indigenous ways of knowing and being are reflected in the learning and we work with them for reconciliation. Graduates go on to build healthy communities wherever they are employed.

We strengthen students' abilities to work in a team based environment by teaching leadership, communications, conflict resolution and collaboration through a variety of inter-disciplinary opportunities. With the opening of the Alex & Jo Campbell Centre for Health and Wellness in Fall 2019 the school will be able to offer even more learner-centred, interdisciplinary and holistic education opportunities, integrated with the community to meet their needs.

I hope to meet you while you are studying in our school. We welcome students of all ages and backgrounds and strive to make each student feel supported in their learning experiences. If I don’t encounter you in the classroom or on campus you are welcome to stop by my office in Fisher 305 to say hello.
