Hazell Penn Instructor
Hazell was trained as an Registerd Nurse (1976) and a midwife (1980) in Cambridge England. In 1978 Hazell took the British Columbia Nursing registration exams and began work in the Coronary Care Unit on Fairfield Road. Later after two years in New Zealand she worked in the Labor and Delivery at Grace Hospital, Vancouver for the following 5 years.
A new job and her 4th child arrived together in Edmonton in 1991. After 5 years in Alberta (University of Alberta Hospital) Hazell returned to Victoria and completed her BSN (2002) and her Masters (2008) at the University of Victoria.
Hazell has taught in the Nursing Faculty at Camosun College since 2008. In spring 2013 Hazell spent 2 months (SD) at Whitreia College in New Zealand and had the wonderful experience of participating in the Maori and Pacific Island nursing programs. Hazell has recently received the Co-Active Coaching Certification, CPCC, from the Coaches Training Institute CA (May 2013). Her biggest passions are yoga; and eating and painting in France and Italy.
Trivia: My sons had a TV show, were on Oprah, played basketball with Obama and now have a production company in LA called Buriedlife Productions. The younger son is also at Cambridge University studying philosophy of film. My eldest daughter is a photographer on Maui (Maui Maka) My younger daughter graduates this month with an Honours Degree from UBCO.
