Ellen Mahoney Instructor
MA, BSN, RN
A nursing graduate from Camosun College, Ellen Mahoney has taught in the first year of the BSN Nursing Program since 2010. Prior to then, she had a versatile career spent in nursing practice, administration and project management including managing Patient Education and Infection Control projects. For five years, she managed the New Grad Transition Program and Mentorship Program throughout Vancouver Island. Ellen’s passions are supporting students as they transition into the role of student nurses, and mentoring new instructors. She enjoys first year where students develop the foundation of their practice. She graduated from Royal Roads University with a Master of Arts in Leadership and Training.During her BSN education, Ellen focused her studies on Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) and for almost 30 years, has volunteered in different roles. Currently, Ellen is the President of the Victoria Chapter of the ALS Society of BC and the Client Services Coordinator. She was recently honoured with the Governor General’s Caring Community Award, the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal, ALS Canada’s Lifetime Achievement Award, the Myra Rosenfeld’s Volunteer of the Year Award for Canada, and ALS BC’s Honourary Life Membership. She is also a Director on the Vancouver Island Multiple Myeloma Board.
