Joan Humphries, Associate Chair
Before assuming the role of Associate Chair of the Nursing Department, Joan brought a broad practice background to her teaching, drawing on clinical practice in rural and urban settings throughout British Columbia and Alberta. Since beginning her teaching career in 2005, Joan has engaged with students in a variety of courses extending throughout the first three years of the nursing program at Camosun College. Joan is a PhD Candidate at the University of Victoria, and is pursuing doctoral studies in the field of Maternal/Child nursing, including perinatal mental health, and issues relating to nursing in the context of maternal/child care. She has authored several peer-reviewed publications relating to her area of interest, and speaks regularly at scholarly meetings about her current research and ongoing academic work.
