Mary Harber Program Leader - Community Support and Education Assistant
Mary has worked in a variety of areas during her social work career during the last 20 years. She has supported children, youth and their families in the context of child welfare, clinical work around sexual abuse, healthy sexuality and children and youth with disabilities, parent support, high risk youth, addiction and substance use issues.
Mary, formerly with Thompson Rivers University, is now currently the program leader for the Community Support Education Assistant Program here at Camosun College. Her areas of expertise lie in teaching communication skills, group work and facilitation, curriculum development, community prevention, addiction issues and FASD.
She has worked with women and youth supporting community based initiatives in prevention using creative intervention methods such as art and theatre. She is working towards a PhD program in the area of FASD and teaching social skills through creative intervention and continues to support the belief that community is where real change happens.
