Delivering quality education for caring professionals
We are dedicated to preparing you for a career in health care, outreach, and community engagement. Our students lead by example and with perseverance. We offer transfer opportunities for certificate and diploma programs, a Baccalaureate of Science in Nursing as well as professional education courses and programs.
Welcome to the School of Health and Human Services! Our vision is: Flourishing individuals, families and communities.
We are a diverse school educating learners in the family of nursing, dental hygiene and assisting, allied health, addictions and mental health as well as community services and early learning and care. Many programs are offered as professional development such as Activity Assistant and Foot Care. Check out a complete list of all the School of Health and Human Services programs.
Students of all ages and indigenous and intercultural backgrounds are welcome. We strive to make each student feel supported in their learning experiences.
All programs have a practical component where clinical and service skills are honed.
Each program educates students about social justice, equity, what determines health and understanding the whole person. Graduates go on to build healthy communities wherever they are employed.
With the growing need to work in an interdisciplinary manner and as part of a team, in addition to discipline specific skills, we strengthen student’s abilities in team building, leadership, communications and collaboration through offering inter-professional opportunities. As the Camosun Centre for Health and Wellness becomes a reality, we are aiming for even more learner-centred interdisciplinary and holistic education opportunities, integrated with the community to meet needs.
I hope to meet you while you are studying in our school. If I don’t encounter you in the classroom or on campus you are welcome to stop by my office in Fisher 305 to say hello.
