Students helping Students
April 2010 - 4th Annual Tax Preparation
Camosun College, School of Business students continued the “Students helping Students" tax return workshops. This winter, 29 students, most from the Accounting programs, committed 460 volunteer hours assisting their fellow Camosun students by completing 90 income tax returns.
In addition to providing their time and knowledge, the “Students helping Students” volunteers gain valuable career experience and an understanding of the importance of community involvement.
Credit for this initiative also belongs to Faculty mentor, Gord Dixon, for the time, leadership and expertise he provides to this project each year.
The cost was by donation with all proceeds going to the College Foundation for scholarships and awards. This year over $980 was collected.
