Camosun Business Student Named Rising Star
Camosun College student receives award at BC HRMA conference.
Meg Burrows, a soon-to-be graduate of Camosun College, was the recipient of the Rising Star award from the BC Human Resources Management Association (BC HRMA) May 7.
The Rising Star Award recognizes a BC HRMA member doing a stellar job of putting education and training into practice that will make a real difference to clients, the employer, and the HR profession.
“Meg embodies the leadership qualities of the best HR practitioners,” says Barb Patterson, past Chair of the Vancouver Island BC HRMA Advisory Council. “She’s worked as a hiring consultant with the BC Public Service for four years, and I know she has a great career ahead of her.”
Burrows recently completed the Advanced Human Resource Management (HRM) two-year program at Camosun College. She plans to attend the college’s convocation ceremonies on June 19. “My education at Camosun contributed to my professional growth and complemented both my work experience with the BC Public Service and volunteer experience with BC HRMA,” says Burrows.
Carole Gosse is the leader of HRM programs at Camosun College. “Meg is very highly thought of by her teachers and classmates,” says Gosse.”The standards she’s set for herself as a A+ student are carried through in her professional life. It’s wonderful to see her recognized with this award.”
